MONTH-LONG INITIATIVES

Poem Boxes - at the LG Library and Lakeside Books to submit poems for display in the store or at the LG Public Library

Window Poetry Display - write a poem on the window at the LG Public Library and add to a community poetry display

Community Poetry Walk - A curated selection of poems from community member submissions will be displayed along the sidewalk in front of the LG Public Library from April 16-30th
SPECIAL EVENTS

April 1 at 6:30pm - Author Event with poet Sherman Funmaker, featuring his debut, Bear Tracks: Memories of a Ho‑Chunk Elder at the LG Public Library

April 16 at 6pm - Author Event with poet, JK Kennedy, author of Clumsy Beauty, Q&A, reading, and signing at the LG Public Library

April 18 at 1pm - Poetry Academy for Earthlings: YOUTH, 8+ at LG Public Library. Are you a human who is interested in creating very human poems? This writing workshop is for you (and definitely not for secret aliens).

April 18 at 3pm - Poetry Academy for Earthlings: ADULTS, 17+ at LG Public Library. Are you a human who is interested in creating very human poems? This writing workshop is for you (and definitely not for secret aliens).

April 21 at 6pm - All ages Poetry Open Mic, 4th grade and up at the LG Public Library

April 24, 10AM-12PM - Celebrate National Poetry Month with a custom poem made just for you! Join Keith and Ellen from LG Library for coffee, cookies, vintage typewriters, and poems written on the spot. Bring our staff poets a memory, feeling, or thought, and they'll type you up a custom haiku.
GET INVOLVED
Get involved with National Poetry Month with the Lake Geneva Public Library and Lakeside Books! You do not have to submit to participate in the Poem Boxes or Window Poetry - go to the library or Lakeside Books and participate in either of those month-long initiatives.
To participate in the Open Mic event, we are asking for sign up committment and submissions, which can be found below. This event is for anyone in grade 4 and up!
To participate in the Community Poetry Walk, please submit a poem at the form below that you would like to see displayed out front of the library on the lake-side for anyone walking up and down the lake path to enjoy and read.
