If you are a local author who is interested in getting your book onto the shelves of Lakeside Books, please start by reading this page carefully and then filling out the form below.  If you show up in person with your book, we will still direct you to fill out this form. This form does not guarantee a space at our store; we are a small store and simply do not have the shelf space. If we are interested, we will reach out to you. Sadly, we have to say this too— please do not incessantly call, email, or DM, we take this as a sign of disrespect and it is happening too often. 

 

Please note the following: absolutely no AI-generated work, whether that be writing or images. Books must be professionally edited, designed, formatted, and, in the case of children's books, professionally illustrated. The price of your book should also align with the current industry standards. We prefer to order books from Ingram or the publisher. If this is not an option and we want to carry your book, we will offer you the standard wholesale rate that matches Ingram's.

That said, we have begun to offer a consignment program. You still need to fill out this form to be considered. We accept five authors per quarter on a consignment basis.

Lastly, if your plan as an author is to mainly sell your books on Amazon or at big box retailers, then we are not the bookstore for you. We want to partner with authors who are dedicated partners, and that includes collaborations on and offline to support the local indie bookstore carrying your book. In considering authors to partner with, we look at your website and social media presence heavily.  Thank you for your support and interest!
